A non-profit association governed by the French law of 1901 and recognized as being of public utility in 1976, AFM is governed by a Board of Directors composed of patients and their families and elected by the General Assembly of members. This Board defines AFM’s policy and actions and makes decisions relating to its financial commitments, in accordance with the promise made during the appeal to public’s generosity for the first Telethon in 1987, and with its programs.
Each external investment is the object of a discussion and is submitted for advice to the competent consultative body before the Board makes its final decison. Within the Board, the Executive Committee makes decisions delegated to it by the Board, prepares the Board’s deliberations, implements them and assists the general management in the day-to-day management of the Association. Every year, the Board appoints a new President. It delegates AFM’s general management to implement the policy and actions it has defined.
